Apple Cinnamon Roll Bake

This easy Apple Cinnamon Roll Bake turns refrigerated cinnamon rolls and canned apple pie filling into a warm, gooey breakfast casserole. Heavy cream keeps the rolls soft while brown sugar, cinnamon, butter, and icing make the apple topping extra rich. Basically, we took those cinnamon rolls in a tube that have been saving Saturday mornings since the ’80s, added apples, and made them even harder to resist. No homemade dough required because we have absolutely nothing to prove here.

🍋 Simply Made Suggestions

  • Let it rest. Give the cinnamon roll bake 5–10 minutes after it comes out of the oven. This gives everything a chance to set up a bit and makes it much easier to scoop and serve.
  • Don’t skip the heavy cream. I pour ½ cup over the cinnamon rolls before adding the apple mixture. It helps keep the rolls soft and tender as they bake.
  • Cover first, uncover later. Keep the baking dish covered for most of the baking time, then uncover it for the final 15 minutes. This gives the center time to bake through without letting the top get too dark.
  • Check the center rolls. The bake is ready when the cinnamon rolls in the center are fully baked and no longer doughy. Gently pull apart or check one of the center rolls before removing the dish from the oven.
  • Warm the icing. A few seconds in the microwave makes the reserved icing pourable and much easier to drizzle over the bake after it has rested.

🍏 Easy Variations

  • Swap apples for peaches (it works, don’t question it)
  • Add chopped pecans for a little crunch
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream and just call it dessert
