Step 1: Melt the butter slowly in the microwave in short intervals to prevent popping. Set aside to cool slightly. Meanwhile, combine the brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg with a fork. Once the butter is warm but not piping hot, pour it into the dry ingredients and gently mix until crumbly. If the streusel looks too wet or mushy, add another 1–2 tablespoons of flour.

Step 2: Wash, peel and chop apples into 1 inch pieces, discarding peel and core. Place apples into the slow cooker.

Step 3: Spread streusel topping over the apples and cover. Cook on Low for 3-4 hours or High for 1-2 hours. Reduce heat to Keep Warm. Enjoy how amazing your house smells! Serve hot in bowls over ice cream or topped with whipped cream if desired. Yum!

🍋 Simply Made Suggestions:
- Prepping ahead? Place the chopped apples in a bowl of cold water with a splash of lemon juice to help prevent browning. Drain well before adding them to the slow cooker.
- Small or large apples both work. Use about 10 small snack-size apples or 6 large apples. One small apple yields roughly ½ cup chopped.
- Check for doneness toward the end of cooking. The apples should be fork-tender but still hold their shape. Start checking after 3 hours on low since slow cookers can vary.
