We love making homemade cappuccinos and lattes so we bought a machine that quickly makes espresso shots (the basis of many specialty drinks). If you have one as well, great! If not, this post will show you how to make espresso shots with an inexpensive AeroPress. There are many similar products widely available, so use whichever method you prefer to make your espresso shot.

Step 1: Begin my making the mocha flavoring. Add simple syrup to the bottom of a mug and whisk in cocoa powder until smooth.

Step 2: Assemble the AeroPress and add 1 scoop (for a single shot of espresso) of ground coffee and place over the mug. Heat water and pour over grounds until the water level is slightly above the 1. Stir for a few seconds then let sit for 30 seconds. Press until all of the liquid has been pressed out. Remove AeroPress and stir espresso shot and mocha mix. If using a different method, skip this step and stir your espresso shot into the mocha mix.

Step 3: Heat milk in a microwave for 30 seconds (make sure to use a microwave safe container) then froth with a frother (or whisk if you don’t have a frother). Return to microwave for another 20-30 seconds and forth again. Pour into mug with espresso and be sure to spoon some foam over top. Sprinkle with a bit of cocoa powder and enjoy your homemade cappuccino!
