Begin my making the mocha flavoring. Add simple syrup to the bottom of a mug and whisk in cocoa powder until smooth. Assemble the AeroPress and add 1 scoop (for a single shot of espresso) of ground coffee and place over the mug. Heat water and pour over grounds until the water level is slightly above the 1. Stir for a few seconds then let sit for 30 seconds. Press until all of the liquid has been pressed out. Remove AeroPress and stir espresso shot and mocha mix. If using a different method, skip this step and stir your espresso shot into the mocha mix.
Heat milk in a microwave for 30 seconds (make sure to use a microwave safe container) then froth with a frother (or whisk if you don't have a frother). Return to microwave for another 20-30 seconds and forth again. Pour into mug with espresso and be sure to spoon some foam over top. Sprinkle with a bit of cocoa powder and enjoy your homemade cappuccino!
