Tomato and Onion Salad with French Bistro Vinaigrette

The base of this simple and divine juicy tomato and onion salad is inspired by the city of New Orleans’s flavorful cuisine. After tasting this refreshing creole salad, we created our version. Instead of just red wine vinegar topping the salad, elevate it with our French Bistro Vinaigrette for a unique blend of flavors to delight your taste buds!

Salad ingredients:

In a small white bowl, there are grape tomatoes, a Vidalia onion, and mint leaves fresh all on the counter

Step 1: Slice a quarter of the onion thin and set aside. If using heirloom tomatoes, slice them thinly and then quarter them if desired. Alternatively, cut cherry or grape tomatoes in half.

Step 2: Place sliced onion and tomatoes in a bowl and add fresh mint leaves or thyme.

Step 3: Pour desired French Bistro Vinaigrette over the salad to taste and enjoy!

Ingredients

Salad Ingredients

  • 10.5-12 oz grape or cherry tomatoes (or two large heirloom tomatoes)
  • 1/4 cup Vidalia onion (thinly sliced)
  • fresh thyme or fresh mint leaves

French Bistro Vinaigrette

  • 4 Tbsp olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1-2 tsp fresh thyme
  • salt & pepper

Instructions

  • Slice a quarter of the onion thin and set aside. If using heirloom tomatoes, slice them thinly and then quarter them if desired. Alternatively, cut cherry or grape tomatoes in half.
  • Place sliced onion and tomatoes in a bowl and add fresh mint leaves or thyme.
  • Place all the French Bistro Vinaigrette ingredients in a jar with a lid and shake until combined. Pour the desired French Bistro Vinaigrette over the salad to taste, then enjoy!
