Pigs in a Blanket

Pigs in a Blanket are made with just two ingredients and baked until golden brown for an easy appetizer everyone loves. They’re one of those recipes that disappear fast at game day parties, holiday gatherings, and after-school snacks. Around our house, one of my kids always ate the crescent roll while their best friend claimed every little sausage. They’re 15 now, and somehow they’re still making the same trade.

Why Little Smokies?

Little Smokies are the perfect size for bite-sized appetizers. They bake quickly, fit neatly inside crescent roll dough, and are easy to grab for parties, game day, and holiday gatherings.

Step-by-Step Directions:

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375º F. Roll out the crescent dough and divide the pieces into pre-cut triangles. Cut each triangle into 4 triangles by cutting off the top of the triangle, then cut the bottom of the triangle diagonally into 3 triangles. A pizza slicer makes this much easier. Refer to the pictures for guidance.

Step 2: Roll one lit’l smokies sausage into each small triangle by placing the sausage on the wider base of the triangle and rolling towards the narrow end. Put each one on a baking sheet (I prefer to line it with parchment paper, but it’s not necessary) with the larger portion of dough facing up. Space them out a bit since they will puff up.

Step 3: Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes. Carefully remove and serve with your choice of dipping sauces or eat them plain. Delicious!

🍋 Simply Made Suggestions:

  • Seal the edges. Gently pinch the crescent dough so it stays wrapped while baking.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan. Leave a little space between each one so the dough bakes evenly.
  • Serve with your favorite dipping sauce. Ketchup, mustard, barbecue sauce, honey mustard, or our Beer Cheese Dip are all great choices.
  • Watch the last few minutes. Crescent rolls can go from golden to overdone pretty quickly.
