Step-by-Step Directions:
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375º F. Roll out the crescent dough and divide the pieces into pre-cut triangles. Cut each triangle into 4 triangles by cutting off the top of the triangle, then cut the bottom of the triangle diagonally into 3 triangles. A pizza slicer makes this much easier. Refer to the pictures for guidance.
Step 2: Roll one lit’l smokies sausage into each small triangle by placing the sausage on the wider base of the triangle and rolling towards the narrow end. Put each one on a baking sheet (I prefer to line it with parchment paper, but it’s not necessary) with the larger portion of dough facing up. Space them out a bit since they will puff up.
Step 3: Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes. Carefully remove and serve with your choice of dipping sauces or eat them plain. Delicious!
Tips:
- We like to serve these with barbecue sauce and beer cheese, but ketchup, mustard, or just plain will still taste yummy!
- This recipe makes 32 pigs in a blanket. Need to make less? Use a smaller package of crescent rolls or only use half of a larger package.
