- 1 box of spice cake mix
- 21 oz apple pie filling & topping
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 Tbsp milk
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Add the apple pie filling to a food processor and blend until smooth. You can also mash it thoroughly with a fork. In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to combine the spice cake mix and puréed apple filling.
Generously coat two full-size silicone donut pans with nonstick cooking spray. Spoon or pipe the batter into the cavities, filling each one about ⅔ full.
Bake for 13-17 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a donut comes out clean. Because ovens vary, begin checking the donuts before the end of the suggested baking time.
Let the donuts cool in the molds for 5–10 minutes before carefully removing them. Transfer them to a wire rack to finish cooling.
While the donuts cool, whisk the powdered sugar, milk and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth. Add a little more milk if needed to reach your preferred consistency. Dip or drizzle the glaze over the cooled donuts.
- I used Duncan Hines apple pie filling and topping, but another brand should also work.
