Step 1: Pour a bit of granulated sugar on a small plate. Squeeze the juice from one lemon or measure 1 oz of lemon juice. Use leftover lemon rind or a wedge of lemon to add a bit of juice to the rim of a martini glass and dip into sugar.
Step 2: Measure and pour in 1/2 oz of triple sec, 2 oz vodka, and 1 oz simple syrup. Shake vigorously over ice.
Step 3: Strain drink into martini glass, garnish with a slice of lemon and enjoy!
Tips:
- Simple syrup is easily made at home by mixing equal parts sugar and water in a pan and stirring over low heat until sugar is dissolved. It can be stored in the refrigerator to be used for later.
- A sugar substitute of your choice can also be used to make simple syrup.
- Chill martini glass in freezer for 20 minutes
- I like to quadruple this recipe and store in the refrigerator before guests arrive.
