- 6 cups crispy rice cereal
- 3 Tbsp butter
- 40 large marshmallows (or 5½ cups mini marshmallows)
- pink food coloring ( 2 different shades of pink)
- edible sugar hearts
- food safety gloves (3+ gloves needed)
Melt the butter over low heat in a large pot. Add the marshmallows. Stir together with a wooden spoon until combined, about 3-5 minutes. Set aside.
Pour ½ cup of the marshmallow mixture into a large bowl. Add one of the pink food dyes to the bowl and mix into the marshmallow mixture until combined.
Add 3 cups of crispy rice cereal to a bowl and add the edible sugar hearts now, if desired. Add the cereal to the pink-dyed marshmallow mixture. Use a wooden spoon to mix the cereal and pink-dyed marshmallow.
Spray gloves with cooking spray so they don't stick to the crispy rice cereal mixture for the next step.
Use gloved hands and press equal-sized amounts of rice crispy mixture into the heart molds. *do not overfill.
Repeat steps 1-5 for the second pink color. Change gloves between each repeated step to avoid color mixing.
Once the Valentine Rice Crispy Hearts have set, they are ready to serve. Enjoy!
