Equipment

  • heart-shaped donut mold

Ingredients

  • 15.25 ounces strawberry cake mix
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup strawberry frosting
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • Valentine themed sprinkles

Instructions

  • Set oven to 350ºF. Spray donut molds with non-stick spray. Place the cake mix, eggs, milk, and vegetable oil into a mixing bowl and, using an electric mixer, combine until smooth.
  • Gently spoon the batter into the heart-shaped donut molds. Bake for 13-17 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes clean. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5-10 minutes before carefully removing them and placing them on a wire cooking rack to cool completely.
*Alternately, you can pipe the batter into the heart-shaped molds.
  • Put ¼-½ of the strawberry frosting into a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave the frosting for 10-20 seconds until it is slightly running and warmed.
  • Before applying the frosting, use a sharp knife to cut away any excess cooked cake to obtain the perfect heart shape. Dunk each donut into the melted frosting and immediately decorate with sprinkles. *Alternatively, you can drizzle the melted frosting over the top of each donut.

Notes
