Ingredients

  • 2-3 ounces ground breakfast sausage (pork or turkey)
  • 1 slice American Cheese (or cheese of your choice)
  • 1 English muffin

Optional

  • 1 egg

Instructions

  • Roll the ground sausage into a ball and flatten with your hand between a sheet of parchment paper. The sausage patty should be very thin since it will plump up when cooking.
  • Place the sausage patty in a nonstick skillet (or use an oiled skillet) and cook over medium high heat for 2 minutes. Flip the sausage patty and continue cooking for another 2 minutes or until throughly cooked (165º F). Place a slice of cheese over top and cover the skillet until the cheese begins to melt, about 30 seconds.
  • While the patty is cooking, toast the English muffin on low to warm it. Assemble your sandwich and enjoy!

Optional Egg:

  • If making an Egg Sausage McMuffin - heat a small egg pan over medium heat with a pat of butter. Crack an egg into the pan and use the egg shell to break the yolk so it spreads. Cook for about 1 minute, then flip and cook for another 30 seconds until desired doneness. Build your breakfast sandwich with the sausage patty, melted cheese and egg. Yummy!

Notes

    • Be sure to really flatten your sausage patty before cooking. It always plumps up more than you think it will and you want it to cover your English muffin.
    • You can make these ahead of time. Wrap them in parchment paper and store in the refrigerator. Microwave for 30 seconds at a time until heated through.
